The design of the spiral heat exchanger is two sheets bent in a spiral, which form two types of channels. In this case, the channels have a rectangular cross-section, which facilitates the movement of working media through them. To prevent the channels from deforming, spikes (stiffening ribs) are installed on one side of the sheet. The formed channels are welded on one side to ensure tightness.
Areas of application: oil industry; pulp and paper industry; chemical industry; food and pharmaceutical industry; coke and chemical production, etc.
ADVANTAGES:
- High heat transfer coefficient with low hydraulic resistance.
- Reliability: resistance to contamination and deposits due to the use of only one channel; effective operation in technological cycles where coolants that are prone to deposit formation, viscous and containing solid inclusions and fibers are used.
- Small dimensions with large values of the heat exchange surface area.
- Due to the spiral design, there are no stagnant zones in the heat exchanger channel.
DISADVANTAGES:
- Difficult to manufacture and repair.
- High requirements for the quality of operation, it is quite difficult to achieve the tightness of the housing after service work.
