Shell and tube heat exchangers

Shell and tube heat exchangers are the next step in the evolution of shell and tube heat exchangers. They consist of a shell, which houses a bundle of tubes, which can have a spiral or straight shape. Most often, the heating coolant enters the tubes and is heated in the shell.

Areas of application: economizers for gas boilers; heating; hot water supply; food and pharmaceutical industries; energy; chemical industry, etc.

DISADVANTAGES:

• Relatively low heat transfer coefficients when compared to plate and shell-and-plate heat exchangers.
• Greater metal content, overall dimensions and weight than analogues.
