The shell-and-tube heat exchanger consists of a fully welded package of round heat exchange plates, which is placed in a steel housing. The housing can be collapsible or fully welded. There are no seals between the plates, which significantly increases the reliability and durability of the heat exchanger, and also expands the range of used coolants, their pressures and temperatures.
Areas of application: chemical industry; large power engineering; refrigeration plants; heavy industry, etc.
ADVANTAGES:
- Reliability: these heat exchangers withstand high pressure and thermal stresses; the package consists of round plates, which guarantees a uniform distribution of all stresses.
- Self-cleaning of the surface of the plate package due to the high degree of turbulence of the coolant.
- Maintainability: the housing can be disassembled to detect and eliminate breakdowns.
- Individuality of manufacturing: flow dividers can be installed in the space between the heat exchanger body and the plate pack to optimize the hydraulic operating mode.
DISADVANTAGES:
- Maintenance of the plate pack in case of contamination requires special equipment and skills.
